SRA VISITS

TCP has a proven track record in providing assistance and guidance to firms facing a visit from various units within the SRA including the Practice Standards Unit, the Forensic Investigation Unit and the Investment Business Unit.

The owner of TCP, Vanessa Shenton, has previous experience as Practice Standards Adviser for the SRA. She currently sits on various relevant committees. TCP‘s knowhow therefore includes an understanding of the organisation that is the SRA and the methods and approaches of its various different visiting departments. TCP‘s expertise in this area is current, practical and extensive.

TCP specialises in particular, in mock PSU visits.  In December 2009 in conjunction with the ARK Group Vanessa authored a guide entitled “Preparing for a Practice Standards Unit Visit”. Please contact the ARK Group on 020 7490 0049 if you are interested in this publication.

TCP can assist firms with SRA Visits in the following practical ways:

  • Telephone advice, via the TCP Helpline Service, to identify the key areas that a firm should concentrate on prior to the visit.
  • The Compliance Packs sent by e-mail to assist, for instance in your own review of your referral arrangements before the visit.
  • Under the Compliance Audit Service , TCP can conduct a mock visit to identify risk areas and recommend remedial action prior to the SRA visit.
  • Telephone assistance, via the TCP Helpline Service, while the SRA are on site.
  • Assistance in compiling responses to SRA visit reports and advising on how to deal with the SRA’s required actions to remedy breaches.

SRA Visits can also lead to formal Regulatory and Disciplinary Investigations. TCP can assist with written representations.

Please contact TCP should you need assistance with an SRA Visit.
